Port of Miami completes successful upgrade to the latest version of GateKeeper Systems’ Commercial Vehicle Management Software

MINNEAPOLIS, May 1, 2014GateKeeper Systems, Inc., a leader in commercial vehicle management and parking access control systems today announced that Port of Miami has completed a successful upgrade of its GateKeeper Commercial Vehicle Management (CVM) Software in conjunction with the Port of Miami Tunnel Project (“POMT”).

GateKeeper’s CVM software is part of an existing RFID-based system that automates many of the manual operational and administrative processes required to manage the large numbers of commercial vehicles that visit the Port each day.

As the busiest cruise port in the world with more than 4.8 million cruise passengers annually, the Port of Miami now provides visitors with direct access between the seaport and highways I-395 and I-95 via the tunnel. The CVM upgrade supports the tunnel project with new software functionality, additional RFID readers, and a virtual server deployment.

“We are pleased to be a part of the massive new transportation improvement at Port of Miami that will improve the efficiency of the administrative responsibilities of Port staff,” said Lynn Richardson, President of GateKeeper Systems.

GateKeeper Systems teamed with RFID tag and reader manufacturer TransCore to provide a complete, turn-key upgrade of the POM ground transportation management system hardware and software.
